The AAO Annual Session was an encouraging meeting for our orthodontic team and attending clients, actively motivating them toward their 2017 goals. The weekend’s focus: Navigating Orthodontics: The Art, The Science, The Business—though not necessarily in that order.
AAO President DeWayne McCamish made the intention for the San Diego meeting clear in his opening letter to attendees:
“We all know that orthodontics is both an art and a science – but it is also a business. We have catered our 117th Annual Session program to provide information for all attendees to navigate their careers successfully through all kinds of water.”
The Annual Session had a variety of resources on the business aspects of orthodontic practices. The CWA team contributed to the conversation with the release of our new edition of our Orthodontic Practice Comparison Report.
Owners picked up the report to gauge their practice performance and aspiring owners talked with our team about using the report to help them with business planning.
But it wasn’t all work and no play. Cain Watters and Associates hosted clients and their colleagues for an evening overlooking Petco Park at our Cocktail Hour event. The weather was perfect for relaxing on Social Tap’s patio, where our team got an opportunity to check in with their clients on their year so far.
“It was a great meeting,” CWA Partner Judson Crawford said. “Both clients and non-clients were eager to talk about how their practices compared to our client’s performance. The new report got residents and doctors looking to start their own practice excited, as they were able to use it for goal setting, benchmarking fees and hourly pay. Most of all, we were happy to get the report in our clients hands and thank them for making it possible.”
